A few Menai athletes (Rowan, Beca, Miguel, Alex, Esyllt & Holly) were selected to represent North Wales in the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Loughborough on Saturday. All ran very well with some of our athletes finishing in the top one hundred ! Many shoes were lost and all legs that crossed the finish line were caked in mud.
In my opinion, it was the best cross-country course by far, with extreme mud, hills and bogs, classic cross-country style. On the other hand, the route was quite narrow in some places, and it was difficult to get through all the people.
After running, we got a chance to look around the stalls in the field. It was quite funny when you were queuing and hearing things like “No, Mum, seriously, I’m stuck. Mum, I’m stuck in the mud! Mum!”
We also had some nice doughnuts after running- a proper runner’s diet.
I think that running in Loughborough was a great experience and I definitely hope that I qualify next year as well.
Congrats to all the Menai members that ran for North Wales yesterday!
