On Saturday 14th January Beca Bown took the long journey up to Perth, Scotland for the British Cross Challenge. It was a dry morning but unfortunately the course was anything but ! Beca competed in the U17/U20 women’s race, which had a strong field of athletes, including the top three from previous rounds of competition. After a strong start and managing to stay with the leading pack throughout, Beca crossed the line in 6th position in the under 17s race and 13th overall which included under 20 women. She enjoyed the experience immensely, her first muddy race up in Scotland.
Saturday 21st January was a great day with great weather at Colwyn Bay for the next round of the North Wales Cross Country League. Miguel started things off in the under 15 boys with a very impressive pace of front running to cross as a clear winner. This was backed up by Tomos & Jake. Sadly we didn’t have the numbers in all of the age groups to make an impression in the team awards as you need a minimum of 4 athletes per age group to score. U/11 boys Perry, Jacob & Morgan had fantastic runs. U/11 Girls well done Savannah & Heidi. U/13 Girls Tamsin, Esyllt & Ela again ran with confidence. U/13 Boys Tomos & Daniel found the conditions hard work but great performance from the boys. Sadly we had no U/15 Girls competing. We then moved on into the afternoon. Cara Scott had a very impressive race, finishing 3rd overall in the Senior race, while winning the under 17 age group. It was lovely to see Izzy back in a Menai vest after a lay off. A very impressive come back and another great performance from Cadi Edwards. There were solid runs from James Smith and Steffan Sayer in the senior men’s race. Da iawn pawb, perfformiadau gwych.
