Menai Track and Field truly are on the map with honours bestowed on two of our Clubs officials. We are lucky to have so many talented people volunteering at Menai, but last week Byw’n Iach’s prestigious Gwynedd Sport Awards Panel saw fit to shortlist both Barry John Edwards and John Messum.
Its not just standing out at track for these two, travelling the length and breadth of the UK is a normality.
Barry John was nominated as a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category. Barry has been with Menai from when the club began in 2000 and will next year have served 25 years in different capacities, from athlete to one of Wales’s top Sprints Coaches along with many other hats he wears.
John Messum was nominated into the finals for the Coach of the Year Award. John’s coaching is second to non and has seen help and develop athletes at club, district and International level.
Massive congratulation to both as we enter our 25th Anniversary next year.
